Why eat seafood?
Seafood is extremely healthy for the following reasons:
Protein – seafood is an excellent source of protein which the body needs for the growth and maintenance of muscles and body tissues.
Omega 3 – seafood and especially oily fish such as mackerel, herring, sardines and salmon are rich in Omega 3 which is good for the heart, for brain development, joint function and healthy skin.
Vitamins and Minerals – fish contains many of the daily requirement of vitamins and minerals needed by the body.
Cholesterol – Seafood is low in saturated fats, the harmful fats that cause heart disease. Oily fish is high in polyunsaturated fats that actually help break down the saturated fats in the body.
