GILTHEAD BREAM

Bait – prawn, worm, sand eel, mussels
Method – float with baited hook
Good places to catch gilthead bream in Cornwall are Helford and Mevagissey
Deep flattened body with large scales. They are golden on top with a white belly. They have a single long dorsal fin with eleven spines. Large head forming 25% of the body with a gold band between the eyes. Mouth has large lips and has large pointed teeth.
Length is 35-70cm

Family – Sparidae
Like the black bream, the gilthead bream like rocky weedy ground and favour estuaries, however these fish are mainly solitary.
