Diamond shaped body with thin tail. Brown colour on top with white, black and light brown dots. Underside is white. Has a barred pattern on the tail. Care should be taken when handling as there are spines on the tail.

Ray can be found anywhere on the bottom, however they prefer mud and sand. There are many species of ray and they are all similar in their habitat.
