We'd rather level with you here than pad the shelves. Our line section is mostly ready-to-use crabbing hand lines just now, the sort that have kept children, and a fair few grown-ups, happily occupied on harbour walls all summer. The crabbing hand line with hook, booms and weight is ready to bait and drop. The net-bag version makes scooping up your catch easy. Have a look, then lower it gently back. They're cheap and good fun for a family day beside the water, which is what hand line fishing on a harbour wall is all about. We've kept it small and honest rather than padding the shelf with line you don't need.
If you're after spooled mainline, braid or proper sea fishing line for a reel, we don't list it on its own just yet. The easy route is one of our rods and combos with line included, which come ready-loaded and balanced, so you can fish straight away. Rather ask first? Crabbing's brilliant, but keep little ones within arm's reach of the water, go easy on the bait, and lower the crabs back gently once you've all had a look. Our short guide to staying safe on the coast is worth two minutes before any harbour-wall session.
