Perran Sands Beach

Perran Sands belongs to the great arc of Ligger Bay, where the Atlantic rolls in across one of the widest beaches in the South West. The Penhale dune system rising behind it is the most extensive in Cornwall, its marram-covered ridges reaching nearly a mile inland and sheltering a surprising richness of life, from rare wild flowers to one of the county's largest colonies of the silver-studded blue butterfly. It is a landscape that feels older and emptier than the resort beaches further along the coast, with sea, sand and dune blurring into one another in the haze.
