Up until the mid 19th Century Tintagel was known as Trevena. Tintagel and Tintagel Castle are associated with the legends of King Arthur and the knights of the Round Table and is a very popular tourist place with people visiting from all over the world.
Trebarwith Strand
Trebarwith Strand is a couple of miles south of Tintagel. It has a large sandy beach which is over ¾ kilometre long. The beach is interspersed with large areas of rock and is surrounded by impressive cliffs containing caves.
Surfing is popular at Trebarwith Strand.
Sea Fishing in the Tintagel area
Around this area you can catch conger if fishing at night. During the daytime you should be able to catch decent sized pollack, mackerel, flat fish and dogfish.
