Flushing

is a quiet, sheltered village set on the waterfront opposite Falmouth, across the Penryn River arm of the Carrick Roads. Founded in the 17th century and named after Vlissingen in the Netherlands, it keeps a handful of fishing boats and a passenger ferry linking it to the bustle of Falmouth across the water.
